A few things have recently changed, I finally got my degree, and thanks to some presents and a nice promotion I was able to get a shiny new camera, a Nikon D7000 DSLR, which is going to replace my Canon 450D.
Together with the camera body, I also got a Nikon 18-105 VR kit lens, which I read should perform quite well, covering a nice range of focal lengths and featuring VR image stabilization.
A couple days after buying it, I also found an old Nikon film camera in my father's wardrobe, together with a Nikkor AI 105mm f/2.5 lens, with manual focus and apertures, which I immediately proceeded to place in front of the D7000, finding out it works out great after setting focal length and maximum aperture in the non-cpu lenses menu. Despite having to focus manually , the camera is able to tell when focus is reached and the exposure meter works, too
I'll try and post a few pictures in the next few days, so you can have a look at its wonderful DoF and bokeh
